"Even today after 40 odd years of feminist resistance, the witch is a figure without respect except among witches. Particularly important in this collection is the author's determination: "lying to obligations, stealing your own time, daring your own thoughts...". Her definition of civilization is marvelous (Spell To Return). My favorite lines are " she is hard to take in all at once, that kind of love" and the last line in this wonderful book "call me back." Spell for Empathy
I had a fabulous time celebrating my book and the amazing community of artists and writers that I am blessed to be a part of.
We had tamales and cupcakes and good music from The Muatas (Ayanna and Cam Muata) and DJ Reggie McKeever (even a little dancing!) and we had fabulous poetry from LM Brimmer, Gabrielle Civil, Rachel Moritz, Sun Yung Shin and Junauda Petrus.
It was at Pangea's new building right next door to Moon Palace Books and my Pangea people really held it down for me!
