Murmurations was a performance/live installation created by Gabrielle Civil and Ellen Marie Hinchcliffe through letters, phone calls and then in person during a three week residency in the Summer of 2023.
Commissioned by Pangea World Theater and funded by the once and future National Endowment for the Arts (before being gutted by doge in 2024) Murmurations was performed twice to sold out audiences in Minneapolis, MN.
Murmurations was about world building from the archives, book magic, tarot magic, mixed tape magic, friendship and the creative life.
Survive, Survive, Survive.

HEXENTEXTE is pleased to announce the publication of Murmurations by Gabrielle Civil and Ellen Marie Hinchcliffe. Murmurations is a meditation on friendship and survival built through devotional exchange and mutual care. The book transforms elements of Civil and Hinchcliffe’s original collaborative performance into a living document, offering the archive as invitation.
